At the 2nd American Beatbox Championships, NYC had one of it’s heaviest single day downpours in it’s history and in true NYC fashion the club was packed. Over 500 people came out to see the beatboxers rock it out to the fullest, globally others watched online.  The scene in house was an eclectic mix of NY, many of whom had never seen such a battle.

The American Beatbox Championships is emerging as a must see event in New York City. The birthplace of what we know today as BEATBOX. The American Beatbox Championships ignites the kick off with another style of vocal exchange. The “Vocal Velar” panel series is named after the southern African click languages so often associated with BEATBOX the panel series aims to provoke a dialog between established and rising artists with rising stars of the beatbox community. This year’s panel discussion is moderated by Kalae All Day the spitfire New York singer-songwriter, emcee, and lyrical book-bagger.

Kalae is an emcee/singer/songwriter and self proclaimed “vandal”. Kalae or Kalae All Day, as she is otherwise known, is swiftly making an impression in the underground Hip Hop scene. At the young age of 21, the Harlem native already has 30 New York shows under her belt, at venues such as Crash Mansion, Sputnik, The Knitting Factory, Public Assembly, Highline Ballroom, Santos Party House, SouthPaw and Ashford and Simpson?s Sugar Bar, all of which are PRIME New York music venues. Opening for rappers Jean Grae, Talib Kweli, Keith Murray and CL Smooth, she has been making her presence felt on the hip hop scene in NYC since 2008.

The panel features a host of highly acclaimed artists including ASCAP award winner and Philadelphia native, Aubrey Ayala who has been commanding the stage and penning electronic music anthems for the last 12 years. An ASCAP award and countless Billboard chart toppers on her resume.
